Around Town

Piqua and its environs are one of Ohio’s best kept secrets.

The Town

WHAT TO DO

  • Piqua has a lovely downtown district with a variety of shops. It hosts the beautiful Fort Piqua Plaza. Fort Piqua Plaza was built in 1890-91 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style as a destination hotel. In 2006 Piqua chose to restore this beautiful landmark which today houses the Piqua Public Library, meeting rooms, a grand ballroom and Winans Fine Chocolates and Coffees.
  • Johnston Farm and Indian Agency is the number one visited Ohio Historical site for the entire state of Ohio. Visitors to the farm can enjoy a section of the Miami and Erie Canal when they ride along on the canal boat, the General Harrison. The Annual Piqua Heritage Festival is held here on Labor Day Weekend.
  • The Piqua Bike and Walking Trail winds along the Great Miami River and through other scenic areas providing twelve miles of outdoor enjoyment.
  • Visitors can enjoy the Piqua-Caldwell Historic District walking tour which highlights the many assets of this National Registered Historic District. Contact the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce for details.
